Last year, New Jersey-born, Harlem-based rapper Kyle Rapps released his debut EP, Re-Edutainment. The project, produced entirely by Kev Brown, was Kyle’s re-interpretation of the Boogie Down Productions classic Edutainment, and one of the more fun (and powerful) songs on the project was “Bully,” a song that examines bullying in its many forms, from the classic schoolyard to the United States government, and more.
Now, Kyle is excited to release the song’s video, just in time to celebrate his performance this evening, Thursday, February 9th, at Southpaw in Brooklyn, alongside Action Bronson, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, and more. The video, shot in Bed-Stuy and directed by Alex Ghassan for Anu Day Media, offers a comical twist to the song’s more serious undertones, complete with big bad bullies, sleazy preachers, overzealous police officers, and a video game-esque “Bully Bar” that helps bring the concept home.
