Kendrick Lamar potrebbe essere il motivo per cui Flying Lotus deve ancora rilasciare l'album del suo alter ego Captain Murphy. Secondo il produttore e compositore di Los Angeles, K. Dot ha registrato diverse strofe su diversi brani che Flying Lotus aveva precedentemente registrato per l'album.

Flying Lotus a.k.a Captain Murphy ha rivelato in un'intervista a Pitchfork: "Abbiamo lavorato su alcune cose insieme. Sono andato in tour e ha registrato su un po' delle mie canzoni. Non so se ha intenzione di usarle o meno, ma ha registrato un mucchio di roba, questo è il motivo per cui non è ancora uscito l'album di Captain Murphy. Ha preso tutti i miei beats!".

"A questo punto, non so nemmeno io! Ha preso qualcosa come 12 o 13 delle mie tracce. Penso che abbia registrato su tutte loro. Non so se vedranno mai la luce del giorno."

Kendrick Lamar è uno degli artisti che saranno presenti nel nuovo album You're Dead! di Flying Lotus in uscita il 7 Ottobre 2014 per Warp Records.
